The Auburn Symphony kicks off its chamber series Nov. 23, featuring six of its outstanding musicians performing major works by Mozart and Schoenberg.

The concert, A Lot of Night Music, begins at 4 p.m. Nov. 23 at St. Matthew Episcopal Church, 123 L St. NE, Auburn.

Mozart’s famous and light-hearted Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is “supreme entertainment on an artistic level that only Mozart could attain” while his Viola Quintet in G Minor is “startlingly dramatic and vivid in both personality and form.” Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht is based on a poem of betrayal, acceptance, and forgiveness by Richard Dehmel.

Founded in 1996, the fully-professional orchestra is led by Stewart Kershaw, internationally-renowned conductor and former music director of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra.

The concert is sponsored in part by the City of Auburn and the Garneau-Nicon Foundation.

Festival seating is $17 for adults, $10 for students. Call 253-887-7777 or purchase online at www.auburnsymphony.org.
