SOFTBALL: Ravens slip by Jefferson 2-1, grab second-place in SPSL North

Amanda Fitzsimmons notched 15 strikeouts on the mound and was 2-for-3 from the plate in Auburn Riverside’s 2-1 win over Jefferson on Thursday.

Fitzsimmons gave up just three hits to the Raiders (12-4 league, 14-4) in seven innings of work for the Ravens (12-3, 14-3).

Offensively, Auburn Riverside was led by Jamie Koenig who had a home run and Fitzsimmons who added a double.

Jefferson pitcher Jessica Dickson was tagged with the loss, giving up five hits and striking out five.

The Raiders were led offensively by Erin Fujita who had a double and scored Jefferson’s only run. Hannah Kiyohara was 2-for-3 with a stolen base.

ALSO: Auburn was defeated by the SPSL North first-place Conquerors 10-0 on Thursday. Nicole Kelsoe was tagged with the loss on the mound. Kentwood’s (15-1, 16-3) Kayla Evans earning the win with five innings of work, giving up just three hits and striking out five. Auburn finishes up the regular season with a 5-11 league record, 16-11 overall… Third-place SPSL 3A Division Auburn Mountainview (8-6, 9-8) will play Auburn Riverside at 6 p.m. this Tuesday at Auburn Riverside in a non-league contest.
