If the trend holds in races for Pacific City Council Positions No. 5 and 7, it appears that Stacy May Knudtson and Councilmember Tren Walker will win their respective contests.
The latest batch of results in four Pacific City Council seats, released at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, show Walker – the council president who is running for his third term – speeding toward a victory with 522 votes (69.14 percent) to his opponent Ronnie M. Harris’ 233 votes (30.86 percent).
“I’m looking forward to getting more stuff done,” Walker said. “It looks like we’ll have some money in technology, so it’s nice to get some of that stuff done, stuff we’ve needed for a long time. I’m ready to continue to work.”
In the Position No. 5 race, Knudtson leads with 495 votes (61.7 percent) to Gary Nitschke’s 308 votes (38.36 percent). The two other races in Pacific, however, are much closer affairs.
In the Position No. 2 race, incumbent John Jones has a slim 34-vote lead, with 415 votes (52.14 percent) to challenger Brice Erickson’s 381 votes (47.86 percent). And in the Position No. 4 race, Vic Kave leads Leanne Guier by just 44 votes, 424 (52.74 percent) to 380 (47.26 percent).
Guier, who was unable to pull out of the race after being appointed mayor, said that if she were to win the election, she wouldn’t take the position but would instead defer to the City Council to appoint a councilmember for Position No. 4, which is held by appointed Councilmember Katie Garberding.
Results from the Nov. 5 general election are updated daily at 4:30 p.m. until they are certified on Nov. 26.
