The federal government bailed out banks using TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program). I suggest a similarly-named effort to “bail out” Green River Valley residents. Seems an abutment at Howard Hanson Dam is leaking. And it will take years of figuring and construction and millions of dollars to fix the problem. Flooding “may” occur in the meantime.
Why can’t the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers do what many of us South King County folks do when we have a leaky roof, carport or camper? We put a blue tarp over it. C’mon, Corps – that shouldn’t take too long or cost too much money. Then you can relax and get down to real solutions.
Quit dithering at the dam. Initiate the TARP (Troubled Abutment Relief Program). Cover your assets and save ours.
