A holiday tradition for 12 years, the staff at Auburn’s Coffey Chiropractic Clinic recently delivered Christmas gifts to residents of Parkside Retirement Center.
Generous staff and patients combined efforts through a company giving tree program to provide gifts to residents in need. Sixteen gifts were delivered at the center.
“It’s a beautiful thing,” said Janet Sainati, Coffey chiropractor assistant.
In addition, Coffey Chiropractic continued its stream of donations with a recent delivery to the Auburn Food Bank.
• Auburn-based Thrift Books recently reached a milestone — it donated its one-millionth book to charity.
Since early 2009, Thrift Books has been donating used books to charities in support of fighting worldwide illiteracy. Today, through the efforts of Thrift Books and its not-for-profit literacy partners, one million books have been donated and distributed to countries in Africa and Asia, including Mozambique, Nigeria, the Gambia and Burma.
Thrift Books has partnered with Nargis Library Recovery/Myanmar Book Aid & Preservation Foundation, Wings of the Dawn International Institute for Children, Books for Africa and World Vision to ensure that its donated books are distributed to those in need.
Thrift Books, one of the nation’s largest online seller of used books with a growing international presence, has 300 employees.
• Denver-based ProBuild is closing 18 facilities, with two more closures yet to be announced. Slated for closure is a framing plant in Auburn.
According to a company spokesperson, ProBuild is aligning its business with current market needs by closing facilities in markets where customer demand no longer requires multiple locations or where market demand does not exist. Some facilities will be consolidated with nearby locations, while others are being mothballed in hopes of quickly reopening once the construction market improves.
• Exel Transfer & Storage Co., a contract logistics provider, renewed its 79,296-square-foot lease at Building E at Park 277 in Auburn. The 144,224-square-foot facility is located at 4402 D St. NW and sits on seven acres. The building features drive-in and dock-high loading.
