It has been a busy summer for street repair in Auburn.

For the Citywide Pavement Patching and Overlay Project, workers ground, overlayed and patched pavement on almost 1 and 1/2 miles of arterial and collector streets.

In addition, they patched and overlayed 2.37 miles of both types of street, and as part of the Save Our Streets Program gave nearly mile of local residential streets a thin overlay.

And last but not least, workers replaced 29 curb ramps to make them compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

On Monday the Auburn City Council unanimously approved the final pay estimate.

Funding came from the Local Street Preservation Program and the Arterial Street Preservation Program. A mining permit held by ICON Materials and $600,000 of Real Estate Excise Tax revenue are contributing to the project, which came in within budget and within the authorized contingency.

A project budget contingency of $205,616 remains in a local street preservation fund and $80,887 in an arterial and collector pavement preservation fund.
