The Auburn Days Festival Literary Adventures, featuring nine poet laureates, comes to the Auburn Avenue Theater for a day of readings and discussions Aug. 10.

Pacific Poet Laureate Gerald A. McBreen (2009-2014) serves as host for Poets on Parade.

The Striped Water Poets present the program, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the theater, 10 Auburn Ave. It is free and open to the public.

Among the poets scheduled to appear is Auburn Poet Laureate Richard Brugger, a former Franciscan friar and Roman Catholic priest.

For nearly 30 years, Brugger was the executive director of Auburn Youth Resources, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping at-risk youth and their families. His poetry appears monthly in the Auburn Reporter and is placed in concrete as part of the walking trail at Les Gove Park.

Brugger is a regular featured reader in the greater Puget Sound area. He is a founding member of the Plateau Area Writers Association and the Striped Water Poets of Auburn, and the author of “Do Something & Other Poems”.
