The HBT Insurance Agency announced last week that Safeco Insurance has donated $2,500 to ACAP Child and Family Services in Auburn to support its childcare program.
Safeco’s contribution was presented to ACAP by Safeco agent Emily Hursh of HBT Insurance Hursh nominated ACAP for a grant through Safeco’s Agent Giving Program.
“ACAP’s mission is to promote stable environments for children by offering quality childcare, parent education and resources for families in South King County,” Hursh said. “Safeco’s grant to ACAP is a wonderful way to support our community.”
ACAP works to provide children with a nurturing environment and positive early childhood educational experience, strengthen healthy family relationships and reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect.
“ACAP is about helping to strengthen the bonds between parent and child. Bringing joy into families – through lots of parent involvement programs,” Hursh said.
The Safeco Agent Giving Program provides grants to nonprofit organizations that primarily support youth and people with disabilities with an emphasis on education and after-school programs, health and safety, and civic and cultural programs.
“Safeco is proud to provide this grant to ACAP and help their efforts to promote stable environments for children,” said Paul Hollie, Safeco Agent Giving manager.

Auburn’s Tom Matson Dodge Chrysler Jeep was among those Washington businesses nominated for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their outstanding support of their workers who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
Eighty-one Washington Guard and Reserve service members nominated their employers for award. Nearly 2,500 Guard and Reserve service members, or their families, from across the country nominated their employers for outstanding support.
Nominated employers, ranging from small to large businesses and public sector employers, demonstrated support by providing continued benefits, differential pay and family assistance. A national selection board comprised of senior defense officials and business leaders will select up to 15 recipients for the 2010 award.
The Department of Defense will announce the Freedom Award recipients this summer. Recipients will be presented the Freedom Award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 23.
