PREP WRESTLING: Auburn Mountainview falls 44-22 to defending state champ Enumclaw in SPSL 3A dual match

The Auburn Mountainview wrestling team’s hopes of upsetting defending 3A state champs Enumclaw were dashed early this past Thursday, as the Hornets put a 44-22 hurting on the Lions in a South Puget Sound League 3A dual match.

Starting at the 140-pound match, the Hornets won their first four matches and shot out to a 16-0 lead before 171-pound Lucas Huyber defeated Colton Malek 8-4, putting the Lions on the board for the first time.

Mountainview also got victories from: Tyler Reid, who pinned Aeron Reddy at the 3-minute, 35-second mark in the 103-pound divsion; Matt Anderson, who pinned David Kingman at 1:40 at 112; Drew Dacey, who notched a 7-4 decision over Hunter File at 125; and T.J. Peretti who earned an 11-1 major decision over Lucas Somera at 130.

In the big match of the night, 152-pound Tyler King, a state competitor last season and ranked No. 2 in the state by the Washington Wrestling Report, lost 8-2 to No. 1 ranked Josh Musick.

The Lions will wrestle at 7 p.m. Jan. 13 at Bonney Lake and host a girls duals match at 5 p.m. Jan. 15.
