Auburn Riverside’s Derek Brown and Auburn’s Marquise Prater and Rio Paul were named to the All-South Puget Sound League North 4A first team for their performance on the basketball court this season.
Brown, a 5-foot-10 senior guard, averaged 22.8 points per game this season, second only to Tahoma’s Coleman Wooten (25.6 ppg).
Brown also was honored with a nomination to the 37th McDonald’s High School All-American boys basketball game April 2 at the United Center in Chicago.
Raven teammate and fellow senior Drew Wallen, a 6-2 forward, was named to the all-league second team for his role in helping the Ravens to an 8-8 league record, fifth-place finish in the SPSL North 4A. Wallen averaged 12.9 points per game and helped the Ravens to an 11-10 overall record.
Raven junior guard Mitch Wetmore (12.5 ppg) and senior guard Derek White (9.9 ppg) were picked as honorable mentions.
Prater – a 6-3 senior wing for the Trojans – led his team with 17.5 ppg and was chosen to the SPSL North 4A first team.
Paul, a 6-2 wing who averaged 15.3 ppg, was named to the first team.
Senior guard JJ Ruffin (15.1 ppg) earned an honorable mention.
Auburn finished the season fourth in league with a 10-6 record. The Trojans were 13-11 overall and competed in the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 4A Boys Basketball tournament.
