Meals on Wheels program seeking volunteer drivers

The Auburn Meals On Wheels Program is looking for volunteer drivers to help deliver meals to seniors in the community.

Volunteers deliver meals to home-bound seniors every other Friday, from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

Meals on Wheels is a program supported by the Auburn Senior Activity Center, which delivers nutritious and delicious frozen meals to dozens of homes throughout Auburn each week. The program allows home-bound persons age 60 or over to eat nutritious meals and remain independent.

Volunteers for this program must be have good communication and people skills, be flexible, possess attention to detail, and bring good cheer to home-bound seniors. Additionally, volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, be able to lift 15 pounds, pass a background check and possess a valid driver’s license.

Volunteers will pair in teams, pick up food from the senior center and deliver to client residences.
