A suspended driver who did not feel like going to jail led troopers on an 11-mile pursuit through South King County on Tuesday before finally being apprehended by Washington State Patrol.

The 42-year-old driver from Kent was initially spotted driving 78 mph in his red Ford Mustang on southbound Interstate 5 near South 200th street. A motorcycle trooper attempted to stop the speeder in the posted 60-mph speed zone. He failed to stop, continuing onto SR 516. As troopers driving patrol cars took over the pursuit the driver continued eluding police while obeying the posted speed limits and all traffic lights. The driver even took the time to use his turn signal and alert the troopers to which direction he was going to turn.

An initial attempt at a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) failed to stop the driver. As the driver continued onto SR 99 in Federal Way, a successful PIT ended the chase.

Upon his arrest, the driver told troopers he had a suspended license and did not want to deal with it. The driver also told troopers that they made him very angry when they hit his Mustang.

The driver was booked into the King County jail and will be charged with driving with a suspended license and felony eluding.
