12-year-old boy sustains second-degree burns in fireworks accident

Boy sustains second-degree burns to 25 percent of his body in fireworks accident near fireworks stands

A 12-year-old boy sustained second-degree burns in a fireworks accident Tuesday night near the fireworks stands in the the 2600 block of Auburn Way South.

Paramedics transported the boy to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with burns to 25 percent of his body.

Witnesses said the boy was close to the fireworks stands at about 7:30 p.m. when a firework in his hands went off sooner than he had expected. A bystander called 911, summoning firefighters and paramedics.
