Big 5 Sporting Goods, one of the leading sporting goods retailers in the Western States, is scheduled to open its newest location in Auburn on Aug. 29, company officials said in a news release Friday.
The 11,202-square-foot, full-line sporting goods store is at 1221 Auburn Way N., and provides a number of new jobs.
Big 5 Sporting Goods offers values on brand name sports equipment, apparel and athletic shoes for the family.
“The emphasis in all Big 5 stores is on providing a wide selection of top quality, nationally recognized brand name sporting goods, while also focusing on providing friendly, knowledgeable service to our customers,” said Steve Miller, company president and chief executive officer.
“We are very excited about becoming a part of Auburn’s growing and energetic market and believe that our 59 years of experience in the sporting goods business will enable us to successfully fulfill the needs of sports enthusiasts in this community.”
A grand opening sale kicks off 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 and will feature three consecutive daily giveaways to the first 100 customers through Sept. 6. Special sale prices, free raffles and an enter-to-win promotion will be included throughout the three-day event.
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
Big 5 Sporting Goods, founded in 1955, operates 425 full-line sporting goods stores in 12 Western States.
The Auburn store opening marks the 47th Big 5 store in Washington.
