Auburn Police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between July 27 and Aug. 3:
July 26
Theft: 3 a.m., 3535 Auburn Way S. Persons known only to themselves stole a white utility box from Northwest Family Church.
July 27
Burglary: 8 a.m., 200 block of 8th Street Southeast. Fenced and locked yard, lock cut, unknown lock takes its place.
Theft: Overnight, 1400 block of West Valley Highway North. Somebody stole a commercial trailer.
Animal problem: 10:35 a.m., 12 D St. NW. Cruelty — type, severity, consequences and everything else undisclosed — to animals — kind or individuals also undisclosed — is being investigated.
Vandalism: 9 a.m., 1501 15th St. NW. Somebody punctured the gas tank of a commercial vehicle.
Theft: 5:21 p.m., 1101 Outlet Collection SW. By accident, a woman left her purse inside a changing room at the mall, and when she returned it was gone.
Vandalism: 11:07 a.m., 4900 block of B Street Northwest. Some chucker of rocks practiced his avocation on a residential window.
July 28
Burglary: 6:30 a.m., 2840 Riverwalk Drive Southeast. Somebody, or a pack of ’em up to no good vandalized and burglarized a bit of vacant, City-owned property.
Theft: 4:17 p.m., 1101 Outlet Collection Way, SW. Store security caught an employee of an outlet store stealing, so police arrested then released said person.
Shoplifting: 1:35 p.m., 762 Outlet Collection Drive SW. A man tried to steal a battery from Walmart but security caught him, police cited him for theft and released him. Walmart got its battery back.
Theft: 7:27 p.m., 1101 Outlet Collection Way SW. Some twisted person stole something from Auntie Anne’s Pretzels at the mall.
Shoplifting: 4:20 p.m., 762 Outlet Collection Drive SW. Walmart store security caught a girlish trio of under-aged panty purloiners, police arrived to bust then release the girls to their unhappy parents and finally reported this sad, sordid underwear caper to the juvenile prosecutor.
July 29
Animal problem: 4:13 p.m., 700 block of F Place Northeast. A stray cat bit a girl, an officer impounded the cat and its now cooling its paws for 10 days of quarantine at the Auburn Valley Humane Society shelter.
July 30
Fugitive from justice: 4:48 a.m., 2800 block of Auburn Way North. A fugitive from justice was so successful at fleeing that an account of his or her misdeeds also entirely avoided any but the barest mention in the police report.
July 31
Auto theft: 1:10 a.m., 5110 Frontage Road. An employee of a rental business called 911 to report that someone had broken into the business’ drop key box then stole a vehicle.
Burglary: Overnight, 308 W. Main St. Somebody tried to steal a household generator from Agrishop.
Disorderly conduct: 10:05 a.m., Auburn Way S. Two human beings of the female gender got into an altercation of unknown type at Les Gove Park.
Arson: 12:11 p.m., 1825 K St. SE. A boy lit a fire in a field at Olympic Middle School and was booked into King County Juvenile Hall.
Aug. 2
Theft: 12:45 p.m., 2323 Auburn Way N. A guy with short wavy hair in his thirties asked to test ride a red BMW bike around the parking lot of Roberts Motors then rode off. He was last seen westbound on 15th Street Northeast.
Aug. 3
Assault: 12:14 a.m., 5900 block of Terrace View Lane Southeast. Police busted a man who had busted up his wife.
