Rhys Thomas and his Science Circus wowed the crowd, part of the Auburn Ave Kids series at Washington Elementary School last Saturday.
The show explored gravity through bowling ball juggling, gyroscopic stability through glass bowl spinning, centripetal force with cowboy lariats, center of mass on an acrobatic ladder and inertia with the old table cloth pull.
A former junior high school teacher, Rhys decided he’d rather juggle knives. He couldn’t cut out teaching completely, however, so he created “The Science Circus” – an exploration of Newtonian physics through circus arts.
Auburn Ave Kids showcases local, regional and national acts and touring presentations with an emphasis on audiences ages four through 12 and their parents.
