The Auburn Mountainview and Auburn Riverside baseball squads posted wins Thursday to move on to their respective district tournaments. The state's fifth-ranked Lions feasted on four Peninsula errors to earn the No. 1 seed out of the South Puget Sound League 3A/Seamount tourney with a 9-3 victory.

The state’s fifth-ranked Lions feasted on four Peninsula errors to earn the No. 1 seed out of the South Puget Sound League 3A/Seamount tourney with a 9-3 victory.

Auburn Mountainview (19-3) was led by senior Cody Wiseman on the hill, who earned the win with four innings of work. Wiseman had three strikeouts and gave up seven hits. Sophomore Jared Gray threw three innings in relief, fanning four and giving up just one hit.

At the plate, senior Nick Brooks was 3-for-3 with three doubles and two RBIs.

Sophomore Mason Cerrillo added two RBIs on two hits and senior Shawn Guinn had three runs and a triple.

On Wednesday the Lions defeated Decatur 4-0 to win the SPSL 3A title, with Brooks earning the win on the mound with a complete-game, three-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts.

Auburn Mountainview begins play in the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 tournament at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Auburn Mountainview High School.

For Auburn Riverside, a 10-0 win against Rogers in the SPSL North 4A tourney earns the Ravens a trip to the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 tournament, which begins Tuesday.

Sophomore pitchers Noah Freelund and junior Brady Cummings combined for five innings of no-hit ball to put away the win for the Ravens (12-8).

Senior shortstop Austin Marty had three RBIs in the game, with senior Daniel Casanova and junior Kevin Thomson adding two RBIs each.
