When I recently read a Seattle Times article about the Croskey family and their $2,500 water bill, I just about fell off my chair. How utterly ridiculous and asinine is this for the City of Auburn to charge this family for water that in the first place, they didn’t use and in the second place, had nothing to do with the broken water line?
Adding insult to injury by threatening to shut off their water if they didn’t pay.
Come on, mayor. I sure hope he has a “red face” and feels pretty low and cheap after seeing the article. He should be ashamed sending such an outrageous water bill to a family with five children, a mortgage and barely scraping just to get by.
Just how much water would one have to use under normal circumstances to rack up a $2,500 bill?
And, I’d like to add on my own behalf that the City of Auburn is charging way too much for water these days anyway.
