39th snnual Green River Mountain Men Rendezvous: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept 4-7. King County Shooting Sports Park, 26520 292nd Ave SE, Ravensdale. Free admission, $1 donation for parking. Follow the “GRMM RENDEZVOUS” signs on Kent-Kangley Road (SR 516) east of Ravensdale. Take a trip back in time to the days when the Pacific Northwest was being settled by the British and Americans. Explore mountain man, Indian, and Hudson’s Bay Company primitive and period camping. See shooting competitions between mountain men using flintlock and caplock rifles and pistols. See throwing competitions with knives and tomahawks. Visit traders selling all the things that made life good in the early 1800s. The GRMM is a non-profit, traditional black powder-shooting sports organization that provides NRA-approved shooting education to the Washington public.

Hanson Dam, Green River safety public meeting: 6-8:30 p.m., Sept. 9, Cascade Room, Lindbloom Student Center on the Green River Community College main campus, 12401 SE 320th St., Auburn. Residents are invited to learn the latest details about flood safety and efforts to protect people, property and businesses in the Green River Valley. The forum will discuss: • Dam operations, interim repairs and potential impacts to you and your property; • King County’s efforts in response to possible impacts; • Resources available to the public, plus ways you can help protect yourself and your property against flood risks. World’s Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics: 7 a.m.-3 p.m., Sept. 26. Join the compassionate army of truck drivers across the nation as law enforcement escorts a truck convoy to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics. Truckers meet at the Tacoma Dome and are escorted by law enforcement in a convoy to the Insurance Auto Auctions in Tukwila for a celebration party. Truckers will be welcomed by Special Olympics athletes and families, community organizations and law enforcement agencies. Enjoy music, activities and awards. Lunch will be provided for each driver.
