Emma McFarland recently received the Daughters of the American Revolution Youth Good Citizenship Award.

The award is for honesty, courage to overcome obstacles, leadership, responsibility and patriotism. McFarland, who graduated with honors from Auburn Riverside High School, will attend Washington State University, where she plans to major in journalism. She received academic and music scholarships with an invitation to perform in an ensemble at WSU.

McFarland volunteered for her church, New Day Christian Fellowship, on a mission trip to Mexico, where she worked in a vision clinic.
