The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 162 calls for service between Aug. 24 and Aug. 30, among which were the following:
Aug. 24
Aid call: 5:07 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters provided care to a woman whose house cat had inflicted puncture wounds on her right hand. Firefighters treated the woman and left her at home to nurse the wound.
Aug. 24
Illegal burn: 12:18 p.m., (Lea Hill). Engine 34 contacted a home owner to let him know that it is illegal to burn yard waste not only in the VRFA service area but throughout King County. The owner agreed to put out the fire.
Aug. 26
Automatic fire slarm: 7:20 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters reset the fire alarm system at 24-Hour Fitness after a 4-year-old child accidentally pulled the alarm.
Aug. 27
Aid call: 9:26 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a woman who was suffering a seizure. A family member transported the woman to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.
Aug. 28
Playground chip fire: 7:18 p.m., Auburn). Firefighters used water carried on the fire engine to extinguish a fire in a large pile of playground wood chips at an undisclosed elementary school. There was no damage to the playground equipment.
Aug. 29
Residential fire: 2:27 p.m. (Auburn). Fire units from South King Fire and Rescue and Valley Regional Fire Authority arrived to find a home in the 29500 block of 54th Court South on fire, with heavy fire and smoke. Firefighters quickly evacuated all occupants from the adult-care facility and extinguished the fire.
Aug. 30
Aid call: 12:56 p.m., (Auburn).Firefighters treated a girl who had been struck by an automobile in the 4100 block of A Street Southeast. American Medical Response tranported the girl to ARMC for further evaluation.
