Children’s Dance Theater has more room to roam for their budding ballerinas.

“It’s is very exciting,” said Stephanie Cox, CDT owner, instructor and choreographer. “A lot of kids have added to their schedules. They are able to dance more than they are able to do.”

CDT’s new home – located downtown at 122 W. Main St. – features three dance studios, including a sprung floor, dance boutique and surround sound capabilities. It also has two restrooms, changing room, large lobby area and office.

Parents are welcome to wait in the lobby during class, peek in on their dancer’s progress through a viewing window while siblings enjoy a small selection of toys while they wait.

CDT, established in 2007, goes from 1,200 square feet at its original studio at 14 B St. NE to about 3,500 square feet.

“It’s very nice … with a basement studio with high ceilings,” Cox said. “Everything is coming together.”

CDT offers age-appropriate choreography, costume and music to children of different ages and abilities. Lessons are offered in different dance divisions, including ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap and hip hop.
