The Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce is again working with the Auburn School District to host the 12th annual Career Conference on Tuesday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 1320 Auburn Way S.
The event is an opportunity for 300 high school juniors and seniors in the Auburn, Enumclaw and Kent school districts to prepare for their employment future.
Area businesses participate to give the students an idea of the array of industries available to them and what they need to do to be successful in obtaining a position in that industry.
Students begin and end their day by listening to motivational keynote speakers. In between, students must interview with at least one of the business participants as well as attending two of three skill building workshops.
“Although the overall purpose of this event is for students to hone their skills, last year approximately one fifth of the students that attended the conference received job offers, internships or job shadows as a result of the event,” saiad Nancy Wyatt, president and COO of the Auburn Area Chamber.
Alongside the area business participants are representatives from the trades, several community colleges and technical programs.

ABOUT THE AUBURN AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Established in 1925, the Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce has been serving the communities of Auburn, Algona, Pacific and unincorporated south King and north Pierce Counties for 85 years. The Chamber is a private, not-for-profit, member-supported, volunteer-led organization. Its primary purpose is to focus and direct the resources of the business community to maintain and expand commerce in our region.
