The artwork of talented Auburn School District High School Students will be on display at the City Hall Gallery through Jan. 30.

Fifty artworks are on display showcasing photography, painting, collage, sculpture, computer art and jewelry all created by talented students. Submission of artwork on display was open to all high school-aged students in Auburn, although the majority of participation are from students of Auburn Mountainview, Auburn High School and Auburn Riverside coordinated through dedicated staff and teachers.

“(The student display) “provides our youth with local, community connections to art and artists in Auburn,” said Gina Sandland, visual art instructor at Auburn Riverside. “Our goal is to support and encourage our youth to pursue continued artistic and creative opportunities beyond the walls of our schools.”

The showcase is a unique opportunity for students to see their artwork in a gallery setting as well as the chance for the public to view the artwork.

An opening reception will be hosted from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, and is open to the public.

The Auburn City Hall Gallery is presented by the City of Auburn and Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation. For a brochure or for information on other cultural arts programs, go to www.auburnwa.gov/arts or call 253-931-3043.
