Valley Cities to award duo

Valley Cities Counseling & Consultation recognized Auburn Mayor Pete Lewis and Auburn Food Bank Director Debbie Christian for their outstanding contributions to human services.

Both will be honored at the Valley Cities’ annual auction and awards dinner on March 27 at Emerald Downs.

Valley Cities honors individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to healthy communities by supporting the work of the organization.

Lewis was recognized for advocacy, Christian for direct service.

The mayor supported the Valley Cities’ VC Landing project, 24 units of specialized independent housing with support services for homeless adults. The housing project will break ground in the spring and will support 12 units dedicated to homeless veterans.

Christian, meanwhile, works tirelessly to ensure people have the most basic need, enough food to eat. Many of Valley Cities’ clients rely on the food bank.

Valley Cities is a community behavioral health center serving low-income individuals, families and veterans. Established by the people of Auburn in 1965, today it operates comprehensive outpatient clinics in Auburn, Federal Way, Kent and Renton.
