Milton Mayor Katrina Asay has my vote for Skip Priest’s vacated position as 30th District State Representative.
Deep budget cuts to state spending will be needed this coming year as we face the consequences of spending all the state’s rainy day funds. The Democrats lack the will to hold back spending, and lack the foresight to recognize that the state’s economy is cyclical — the reason the rainy day fund exists.
Asay’s opponent’s view on the economy was clearly stated in a July 14 Seattle Times editorial: “She approaches the state’s budget problem as one of too little tax revenue rather than too much spending …” Not good in today’s economy.
Who can better represent our community when it comes time to balance the budget? Asay has the experience as mayor of Milton, and the will to bring jobs to our state, balance the budget, and work on education reform. Independent minded Katrina Asay will do the best job representing our 30th District and bring a moderating, fiscally responsible voice to Olympia.
