48th Veterans Day Parade: 11 a.m. Nov. 9, Main St., Auburn. One of the largest Veterans Day parades in the country. The parade pays special tribute to Paralyzed Veterans of America.. The parade features nearly 200 units and over 5,500 parade participants, including over 25 high school marching bands, military vehicles, veterans’ units, honor guards and more. 27th Veterans Day Marching Band Competition: 1-9:30 p.m. Nov. 9, Auburn Memorial Stadium, Troy Field, 800 4th St. NE. Hosted by the Auburn High School Band and Choir Parents. More than 30 of the finest high school marching bands from the Northwest compete in parade and field show competition. Vietnam Veterans Traveling Wall: Open Nov. 8-11, 24 hours a day, Veterans Memorial Park, 411 E St. NE. Memorial pays tribute to the men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.  Half-scale replica of the Washington, D.C.-based Vietnam Memorial Wall contains the 58,249 names of those killed or missing in action from the conflict.

Veterans Day Remembrance: 11 a.m. Nov. 11, Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St.  Kent. Keynote Speaker is Rear Admiral Bette Bolivar, U.S. Navy Commander of Navy Region Northwest. Also speaking is Congressman Dave Reichert (R-Auburn), 8th District. The U.S. Navy Band conducted by Chief Petty Officer Nate Bissell, performs. It marks the first time a military band will be playing at the cemetery. The Allrego Women’s Ensemble led by Kathy Lundberg also will perform. Parking at the cemetery is limited. Corestar Pilates – in conjunction with the City of Auburn – presents fifth annual exercise program and nonperishable food drive. Proceeds benefit the Auburn Food Bank. Ruth Stover, owner and operator of Corestar Pilates, joins fellow instructors Lisa Nihem, Erin Finney and Angie Waterman in donating their time on Thanksgiving Day. The program includes separate 30-minute sessions in yoga (9-9:30), barefoot fusion (9:30-10), Pilates (10-10:30) and Zumba (10:30-11). Participants can stay for one or all four sessions. All About Pie: 2 p.m. Nov. 23. Make your best pie ever! Join Chef Laurie Pfalzer of Pastry Craft in a fun and educational demonstration pie making class. Take the challenge out of pie crust with a little knowledge, a few handling instructions and quality ingredients. Learn to make tender, flaky, flavorful pie crust that you won’t have to struggle with. Chef Laurie will use seasonal fruits to build a pie that looks as good as it tastes. • Senior Coffee Hours with the Mayor and Councilmembers: 10-11 a.m. the second Thursday of the month.

Auburn Respite: Nonprofit adult day care program serving the community needs volunteers to help its senior participants. The group meets weekly at the center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays. The program also serves clients on the second and fourth Tuesday, from 10 to 3. The program allows caregivers to enjoy a worry-free day off while the participant enjoys socialization, companionship and lunch. Seattle International Comedy Competition: 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8, 15. Top comedians compete for prize money in the 33rd annual stand-up contest. Randy Hansen’s Jimi Hendrix Tribute: 7:30 p.m. Nov. 23. For nearly three decades, world-renowned guitarist Randy Hansen has acquired a reputation as being one of the best Hendrix impersonators. Tickets: $17 regular; $15 students, seniors.

“The Good Doctor”: 7 p.m. Nov. 1, 2, 8; 2 p.m. Nov. 3, 10, Messiah Lutheran Church’s Galli Hall, 410 H St NE, Auburn. The Messiah Players’ five-character play combines the serious and poignant works of Anton Chekhov with Broadway’s master of comedy, Neil Simon. Grease Was the Word: Aug. 14-Nov. 10. Looking at the quickly changing world of teenagers and their cars in 1950s and ‘60s America. Like every generation of youth, these teens challenged the social norms of their parents, but they had an additional tool at their disposal: the easily available automobile.
