Fire destroys home in Auburn’s Lakeland Hills

A fire engulfed and destroyed a house in Lakeland Hills early Monday morning, the Valley Regional Fire Authority reported.

A fire engulfed and destroyed a house in Lakeland Hills early Monday morning, the Valley Regional Fire Authority reported.

A homeowner could not be located, and neighbors reported they hadn’t seen the man in several days.

VRFA firefighters were dispatched to the 5600 block of Hazel Loop Southeast in Auburn at approximately 2:57 a.m. for a reported house fire. In route, responding units noted a large column of smoke from a few miles away. On arrival, firefighters found a two-story home fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters evacuated the adjoining exposure structures and used a defensive strategy to extinguish the fire. Due to structural damage the structure was unable to be searched.

South King Fire & Rescue provided mutual aid assistance.

The fire is under investigation.
