Auburn Mountainview swimmers grab district titles, state berths | Prep boys swimming

The Auburn Mountainview boys 200-yard freestyle relay team posted the fastest time at Saturday's West Central District III 3A meet at Hazen High School, winning the district title and earning a spot at this weekend's state showdown. Auburn Mountainview also got an individual title at the meet, with Lindsay grabbing first place in the 100 backstroke with a 52.98 finish.

The Auburn Mountainview boys 200-yard freestyle relay team posted the fastest time at Saturday’s West Central District III 3A meet at Hazen High School, winning the district title and earning a spot at this weekend’s state showdown.

The Lions’ relay team, with freshman Luke Lavine, senior Stephen Creed, sophomore Colin Lempert and junior Cameron Lindsay, posted a time of 1 minute, 33.88 seconds.

Auburn Mountainview also got an individual title at the meet, with Lindsay capturing the 100 backstroke with a 52.98 finish.

Lindsay also was second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:00.36. Lindsay’s finals time shaved more than four seconds off his preliminary time.

Also moving on to the state tourney is the Lion 200 medley relay team who finished sixth at the district meet with a 1:47.20. The team, including Lindsay, Lempert, Lavine and junior Paul Whisman, snagged a wild card spot and will compete at the state meet.

The state championships gets under way Friday and continues Saturday at the King Count Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
