Kollaboration Seattle to invade APAC on Oct. 23

History will be made on Oct. 23 as Kollaboration graces the Pacific Northwest for the first time.

Kollaboration Seattle – an annual event and movement produced by young Asian and Pacific Islander (API) professionals and students to promote a strong API presence in entertainment and media – will be held at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, 700 E. Main St.

The show will begin at 7 p.m.

A grand prize of $1,000 will be on the line where hearts, dreams and talent will be presented to judges Eugene Cho of One Day’s Wages, Mary Nam of KOMO 4 News, Marian Liu of The Seattle Times, and special guest artists Dumbfoundead and DJ Zo.

Kollaboration Seattle will feature an array of talent competing for the grand prize with performances by many aspiring local acts including: kings, The Melancholics, Black Mamba, Hip Hop Anonymous, Sola Yun, Erin Kim, Samuel Shin, and Gowe. As a bonus, a freestyle dance and singing competition will be open to any audience member for a $100 prize each.

Special guest performers include Seattle-based Christian band New Heights, comedy sensation Mark Zhang, Kenny Choi of the bands “Daphne Loves Derby and Wolftron, and guest judges Dumbfoundead with DJ Zo.

Paul “PK” Kim, founder and executive director started Kollaboration with the mission and mantra of “Empowerment through Entertainment.” It’s been 10 years since Kollaboration began in Los Angeles with the purpose of providing a platform for young and aspiring Asian Americans to break into the mainstream entertainment industry. PK will conclude his role as executive director at Kollaboration Seattle, his last show to host in 2010 and of the movement as a whole.
