The public is invited to meet and discuss issues with Yolanda Cortinas Trout, a candidate for Auburn City Council, Position 4, at a pre-election party on Sunday.
The events runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rainier Room, second floor of the Truitt Building, 102 W. Main St., Auburn.
Position 4 is now held by Nancy Backus, who has already announced her candidacy for Auburn Mayor.
The public is invited to greet Trout, exchange and share views and goals.
OddFellas Pub & Eatery will serve light refreshments, appetizers and tacos.
Trout, a five-year resident of Auburn, serves on the City’s planning commission and is active in a number of organizations, among them the Forest Villa Community Neighborhood Block Watch, of which she is the co-chair, and the Lions Club.
The Auburn School District has recently invited her to serve on a district committee.
Trout explained why she is running.
“To put it simply – I love this city,” she said. “As a councilmember, my priorities will focus on providing safe neighborhoods and encouraging new business growth so that our college graduates can stay in their hometown to pursue their careers. I am dedicated to making the city a place where children can be prepared for the future.”
