The King County Target Zero Team, consisting of Washington State Troopers and participating Target Zero officers from Auburn, Kent, Federal Way, Renton, Issaquah, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland and Seattle arrested more than 200 drivers for DUI in the first month of this project
The official kick off for the TZT team occurred on the morning of July 1. The first DUI driver was arrested within minutes of the completion of the ceremony. Once the ball started rolling, it hasn’t slowed down.
During the month of July 2010, King County had10 DUI related deaths, down from 12 during July 2009.
“The King County TZT Team has been an incredible asset to the citizens of King County and the State of Washington,” said Capt. Steve Burns, District 2 Commander. “We are committed to reaching our goal of zero traffic related fatalities by the year 2030. We are proud to see it start right here in our county.”
