Auburn Riverside’s Williams grabs 4A long jump | Girls Track and Field

Auburn Riverside sophomore Brandi Williams captured the long jump at the state 4A track and field championships at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma over the weekend.

Auburn Riverside sophomore Brandi Williams captured the long jump at the state 4A track and field championships at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma over the weekend.

Despite having to battle heavy intermittent showers, Williams leaped 17 feet, 9 inches to take the title.

Last season Williams finished sixth at the 4A state meet with a jump of 16-11.

In addition to Williams’ finish, the Raven girls notched points courtesy of junior Rachel Atwood who finished 10th in the 1,600 meters and seventh in the 3,200 with times of 5 minutes, 9.58 seconds and 11:00.42, respectively.

Inglemoor’s Tansey Lystad finished first in the 1,600 with a 4:54.25 and first in the 3,200 with a 10:28.92.

Auburn Riverside finished 21st in the team competition with 12 points.

Kentwood took home the 4A girls title with 66 points, with Inglemoor finishing second with 43 and Richland settling for third with 39.50 points.

ALSO: Auburn senior Alexis Moore finished 11th in the pole vault, climbing 10 feet. The event was won by Issaquah’s Eva Perry (11-3).
