Lori Jacobs, Auburn High School marketing and DECA instructor, was named the Washington State DECA Advisor of the Year at the annual Washington State Career Development DECA Conference on March 5-7 in Bellevue.
The award recognizes Jacobs’s professional leadership and commitment to her students, including preparing members for regional, state and national competitions, encouraging members to apply for DECA scholarships and opportunities, and providing overall contributions that impact the betterment of Washington DECA.
Jacobs has dedicated 12 years to DECA, her students and her peers. She is currently the Washington Association of Marketing Educators (WAME) President, a member of the Washington DECA Board of Directors Executive Committee, and an active participant of various other leadership positions at the chapter and state levels.
Jacobs received a plaque and a $1,000 monetary award from CenterStone Executive Search, Inc.
ALSO: The Greater Auburn Community Career Conference for high school students will be held March 31 at Grace Community Church in Auburn. The career conference, which will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., is a partnership between the Auburn School District and the Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce. Approximately 50 businesses and post-secondary institutions will be on-site to participate in student interviews and provide informational career booths.
