Auburn Riverside earns No. 5 seed into SPSL 4A tourney | Prep girls basketball

The Auburn Riverside girls basketball team had no trouble slipping by district rival Auburn 64-30 on Thursday. The win secures the No. 4 seed into the South Puget Sound League 4A tournament which begins Tuesday. Against the Trojans, the Ravens (7-7, 10-8) were led by Brittni Williams' 13 points. Mckenzi Williams and Rachel Davey had 11 points apiece and Olivia Denton chipped in with eight points.

For Auburn (1-16, 2-17) Latrice Johnson had 13 points and Kassandra Strickland contributed eight.

The Ravens will take on Curtis (8-4, 11-4) on Tuesday at either Auburn or Rogers high schools. Time is yet to be determined.

Mount Rainier (15-0, 17-3) goes into the tourney as the No. 1 seed out of the SPSL North 4A and will face undefeated Beamer (16-0, 20-0) at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the ShoWare Center in Kent for the SPSL 4A title.

Also on tap for the league tourney is SPSL North 4A second-place Kentwood (12-3, 15-5) versus SPSL South 4A second-place Puyallup (11-3, 13-3) at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the ShoWare and third-place Kentridge (11-4, 14-6) versus third place Emerald Ridge (10-4, 13-5) on Tuesday at Auburn or Rogers high schools.

Fifth-place Kentlake (7-8, 9-11) takes on Bethel (5-7, 7-9) on Tuesday in a loser out, winner to districts contest.

The district tourney begins Feb. 13.

ALSO: SPSL 3A champs Auburn Mountainview (8-1, 15-4) begin their postseason at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Auburn Mountainview High School in the SPSL 3A/Seamount 3A sub-district tournament. The Lions will host the winner of a tiebreaker between third-place Enumclaw (4-4, 9-10) and Lakes (4-4, 6-12).

The tourney championship game to determine the No. 1 and 2 seeds into the district tourney will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 against either Bonney Lake (7-2, 15-4) or Kennedy Catholic (13-0, 15-4) at a yet to be determined site.

The district tournament begins Feb. 17.
