Auburn’s Rebecca Thareek edged Auburn Riverside’s McKenzi Williams to win the girls 100-meter hurdles final at the 3A West Central District track and field meet Friday at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.

Thareek clocked in at 14.9 seconds, Williams followed in 14.97.

The sprint hurdles race was one of a few finals Friday. The meet resumes Saturday. Top finishers move on to the state meet next week.

Thareek also took second in the high jump, climbing 5 feet, 2 inches.

Auburn Mountainview’s 4×200-meter relay team finished second (1:46.36).

In boys action, the Lions’ 4×100-meter relay was second (42.93).
