Auburn Riverside opened the 2013 season under new head coach Bryant Thomas with a emphatic 41-13 South Puget Sound League North 4A win at Mount Rainier.
The Ravens wasted no time making their presence felt offensively, running the score to 34-0 at the end of the first half.
Auburn Riverside would add another touchdown in the fourth quarter before allowing Mount Rainier to score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Senior quarterback Kevin Thomson got things started in the first quarter, hooking up with senior wide receiver Drew Wallen for a 30-yard touchdown pass and scoring again on a 3-yard touchdown run.
In the second quarter Thomsen found junior wide receiver Gavin Hettinger from 29 yards out for the score and senior running back Joey Galeno notched a six-yard TD run.
Auburn Riverside’s next two scores came on touchdown passes from Thomson to senior running back Joey Lucchesi, one from 30 yards and one from 33 yards.
Thomson finished the game with 13-of-17 passing for 296 yards and four touchdowns. Thomson also had two carries for 9 yards and a touchdown.
Wallen had five receptions for 112 yards and Hettinger added five for 98 yards.
Eleven Raven runners had carries in the game, combining for 80 yards on the ground.
Defensively, senior linemen Derek Hart and Shaun Meehan had two sacks apiece and Hettinger had an interception.
Auburn Riverside will play Kentridge (0-1 league, 0-1 overall) at 7 p.m. next Thursday at French Field.
