Auburn’s Dao to vie for Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen crown

Vivian Dao, Miss Auburn’s Outstanding Teen 2014, will be among 28 of the state’s most talented, bright and beautiful young women to compete for the Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen title.

Preliminary competition begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 24, with finals at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 25 at the Highline Performing Arts Center, 401 S. 152nd St, Burien.

The field – a mix of honor students, debate champions, singers, dancers, cheerleaders, athletes, musicians and writers – will compete for the coveted title and more than $100,000 in prizes and scholarship assistance.

The MWOTeen competition is the “little sister” to Miss Washington and Miss America.

Dao, 14, an eighth-grader at Olympic Middle School, is performing on the platform, Cyber Bullying, It’s Throwing Punches Online. She also will be performing on the piano for the talent portion of the competition.

Dao, daughter of Huong and John Dao, plays 10 instruments, piano being her favorite.

Promoting scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for Washington’s teens, MWOTeen contestants will be judged on personal interview, talent, evening wear and on-stage question, academic achievement and lifestyle and fitness in active wear.
