City, county should be more accountable

When is it going to end? When are the city and the county going to stop demanding more money from homeowners to pay for their inability to handle money correctly? When are people going to make the city and county governments be accountable for their handling of the money we give them?

Every time there is a vote on anything, a request is thrown in asking for an increase in house taxes. Do they think homeowners have a never ending supply of money? I understand the needs, but why don’t they figure out how to fix the need without constantly increasing taxes? Do they even think of that?

Homeowners can’t keep supplying more and more money. There has to be an end to all this craziness. We need to demand accountability from our government officials in the way they use the money we’ve already given them.

I’m sure there is money somewhere to fix the Auburn High School. The city officials just won’t let us know that. They have their pet projects that they won’t deny to themselves, so they throw the burden onto homeowners to cough up more money to take care of another “need.” That’s what they’re always throwing in our faces. Another “need,” and another, and another. It will never end.

I am already paying three times the amount of taxes I would pay in another state where I used to live for the same assessed value of house. My house taxes have gone up $800 in the few years I’ve had my house, even though my assessed value has gone down a huge amount. City and county officials are always telling us that our taxes either will not go up or will go up just a small amount. Obviously, that is a lie.

This is insane. This is not a protest due to the poor economy (which, yes, has also affected me, too, in a big way). This is a protest of irresponsibility and lack of accountability. I’m asking that we demand accountability and responsible, sensible handling of the money we’ve already given them and a stop to always giving them more and more and more each time they demand it.
