July 26

Stove fire: 3:13 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of a kitchen fire in the 1900 block of 36th Street Southeast found the house full of smoke that had spread to the microwave and cabinets above the stove. The occupants killed the fire before the firefighters arrived. No one was injured. The South King Fire Investigation Task Force investigated the fire and determined that burned food was the culprit, that it was accidental.

July 27

Water leak: 6:51 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters helped a resident of a Pacific apartment complex deal with water leaking through the ceiling and walls of her home. Firefighters determined that malfunctioning plumbing from the apartment above was the problem and they were able to secure the water.

July 28

House fire: 10:11 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responding to a house fire at 214 10th Avenue North in Algona found that the home owner had already snuffed out the couch fire with a fire extinguisher before they got there. The South King Fire Investigation Task Force investigated the fire.

July 29

Aid call: 3:44 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to an assault found a man who had been punched in the nose after an altercation with another man. Firefighters treated the injured man and a private ambulance brought him to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

July 30

Dryer fire: 4:39 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of a possible clothes dryer fire at the 2300 block of A Street Southeast arrived to find that a neighbor had already put out the fire. Firefighters turned the home over to the owner once crews determined that the fire had not spread.

July 31

Dive rescue: 8:48 p.m., (Lake Tapps). Valley Com dispatched technical water rescue firefighters to help East Pierce Fire and Rescue for a drowning. A witness reported that a young male had jumped from the bridge and did not resurface. Divers searched the area for over an hour until the dive was called off because of darkness.

Aug. 1

Body recovery: 8:08 a.m., (Lake Tapps). Technical water rescue firefighters were requested to assist East Pierce Fire and Rescue and Pierce County Sheriff’s Dive Teams to locate and recover a male drowning victim in the 1700 block of Sumner Tapps Highway East. The victim was located in 33 feet of water. The scene was under the control of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
