Auburn police responded to the following calls for service between March 13 and March 16:
March 13
Theft: 9 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. A male person complained that somebody swiped his backpack while he was in the bathroom at Safeway.
March 14
Violation of order: 6:50 a.m.,
4900 block of Auburn Way South. A man assaulted his wife inside their home while simultaneously violating a no-contact order. Police chased the man in a car a short distance before he ditched the car in a driveway and ran down a steep embankment toward the Stuck River where police arrested him without further ado. One police officer sustained slight injuries during the foot chase. Police charged the man with felony violation of a no-contact order, felony eluding, DUI, suspended driving, obstruction of a police officer and outstanding domestic violence warrants. After doctors treated and released the man from Auburn Regional Medical Center, police booked him into the Auburn Jail. The woman was not hurt.
Assault: 3:22 p.m., 2100 block of I Street Northeast. A woman told police that her roommate and the person she was in a relationship with grabbed her in a headlock before she sank her teeth into the suspect’s arm and broke free.
March 15
Vandalism: 9:41 a.m., 1500 block of 21st Street Southeast. Someone chucked a rock through a sliding glass window in the middle of the night. The victim said she heard glass breaking from her second-story window. No one was hurt.
Theft: 10:47 a.m., 700 E. Main St. A male person – young or not so young, old or really old, police didn’t say – reported that somebody stole a wallet at the Performing Arts Building.
Burglary: 1:34 p.m., 300 block
of 8th Street Southwest. Someone tried to burglarize a business between the evening of March 13 and the afternoon of March 15. Police declined to identify the business or specify whether the burglars actually stole anything or indeed, offer any other bits of information peculiar to burglaries.
Shoplifting: 6:04 p.m, 1702 Auburn Way N. Police arrested a man for shoplifting at Top Foods, but didn’t disclose what was stolen.
Disorderly conduct.: 11:21 p.m., 4000 block of A Street Southeast. Police arrested a male for urinating at a public bus stop, being a minor in possession of alcohol and for having an outstanding Bothell arrest warrant with his name attached to it.
Obstructing justice: 12:55 a.m., 440 16th St. NE. Police arrested a man and woman for obstructing a police officer after they interfered with police during a bar fight at BB McGraw’s.
Rape: 12:32 a.m., 340 E. Main St. A female reported that somebody sexually assaulted her at an unknown location within the city of Auburn.
March 16
Assault: 12:10 p.m., 1015 24th St. NE. Police arrested a boy for assaulting a teacher at Cascade Middle School.
Forgery/Counterfeiting: 12700 block of Southeast 312th Street. A woman told police that sometime between Nov. 17 and Jan. 28, her son bought a vehicle using her personal information, forging the bill of sale document.
Home Burglary: 3:57 p.m.,
800 block of 12th Street Northeast. Burglars forced open the front door of a home but stole nothing.
Postal theft: 3:59 p.m., 1900 block of Riverview Drive Northeast. Somebody stole mail from a mailbox.
Shoplifting: 7:38 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Police arrested one boy and two girls at Safeway for shoplifting $28.30 worth of miscellaneous deli food.
Assault with a knife: 11:33 p.m., 300 block of Pacific Avenue North. A female – age not given – brought her brother – age also not given – to the Auburn Regional Medical Center and reported that he had assaulted her with a knife and threatened to kill her. Although the crime occurred in the city of Pacific, police there declined to arrest the brother.
