Nominations open for King County Executive’s Small Business Awards

Mayor Pete Lewis is calling out to Auburn small businesses to let them know they can apply for the King County Executive’s 2013 Small Business Awards.

“There are many great small businesses in the City of Auburn,” Lewis said. “This is a great opportunity for Auburn small businesses to be recognized throughout King County and to celebrate their many accomplishments,” said Lewis. “In past years, only cities nominated candidates for the award, but this year self nominations are also being accepted.”

The awards target companies with 50 or less full-time employees that have been in business for at least three years. The categories include:

• Small Business of the Year

• Minority – Owned Small Business of the Year

• Woman – Owned Small Business of the Year

• Exporting Small Business of the Year

• Green/Sustainable Small Business of the Year

• Workforce Development Small Business of the Year

• Rural Small Business of the Year

• Minority – Owned Small Business of the Year

• Woman – Owned Small Business of the Year

• Exporting Small Business of the Year

• Green/Sustainable Small Business of the Year

• Workforce Development Small Business of the Year

• Rural Small Business of the Year

Nominations will be accepted from May 1 through July 15 at www.kingcounty.gov/smallbusinessawards. Three finalists for each award will be announced in early September. The winners will be announced at the King County Executive’s 2013 Small Business Awards Breakfast on Sept. 25 from 7:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Maydenbauer Center in Bellevue.
