GRCC to honor veterans with ceremony, dedication June 1

Green River Community College is honoring armed service members with a Day of Dedication on Wednesday, June 1.

The program begins with a 10:15 a.m. ceremony and “Freedom Eagle” sculpture dedication in front of the Holman Library, on the GRCC campus, 31920 124th Ave. SE, Auburn

The program includes the third annual veteran coin ceremony at the Linbloom Center. The ceremony from noon to 2 p.m. will follow a light lunch served in the main dining area.

The ceremony includes a distribution of challenge coins made from GRCC student veterans, family members of veterans, faculty and staff members. Retired veterans from Wesley Homes also will be honored.

Expected guests include: First Gentleman Mike Gregoire; State Rep. Katrina Asay; Auburn Mayor Pete Lewis; and Mary Forbes, assistant director of Washington State Veterans Affairs.
