PREP VOLLEYBALL: Auburn Riverside, Auburn Mountainview punch tickets to state tourneys, Auburn bows out at district tourney

The No. 4 ranked Auburn Riverside Ravens finished third at the West Central District III volleyball tournament this past weekend at Kentwood High School.

The Ravens (14-4) came into the tourney as the No. 2 seed out of the South Puget Sound League subdistrict tournament and faced Wilson in the first round at districts.

Auburn Riverside had no trouble sweeping past the Rams, 3-0 with scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-16.

The win moved the Ravens on to round two of the winner’s bracket and match against Puyallup (14-5). Again the Ravens were victorious, beating the Vikings 25-22, 26-24 and 25-20.

Auburn Riverside suffered their only loss of the tourney in the next round to No. 3 ranked Curtis (16-2), 3-0 with scores of 19-25, 21-25 and 19-25.

Forced to play for third and fourth place at the tourney, the Ravens responded with a 3-0 spanking of Tahoma (7-11).

Senior Brooke Bray led the way with 31 kills, 3.5 blocks and 16 digs, with Jane Han adding 17 digs. Brooklynn Bradbury had 13 digs.

The Ravens will open up play at the Washington State 4A Volleyball Championships, against No. 7-ranked Richland on Nov. 12 at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

ALSO: Auburn Mountainview also punched their ticket for state with a sixth place finish at the WCD III 3A District Tourney this past weekend. The Lions went 3-2 in the tourney defeating North Thurston 3-1, No. 7 North Kitsap 3-1 and Columbia River 3-0. The Lions fell to No. 4 Prairie 1-3 and Lakes 0-3. The Lions will open play at the Washington State 3A tournament at 2 p.m. this Friday at the Toyota Center in Kennewick against No. 3 Bishop Blanchet. …The Auburn Trojans bowed out of the district tourney with a 0-2 record, losing to Stadium and No. 2 Graham-Kapowsin. The Trojans (8-7) fell 3-1 to the Tigers in the first round, with scores of 25-18, 18-25, 25-14 and 25-19. In the second round the Trojans fell prey to the Eagles 3-0 with scores of 17-25, 23-25 and 19-25.
