The Auburn Valley YMCA invites kids and families to participate Saturday in Healthy Kids Day – a national event to promote youth health and wellness.
The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature more than 50 different fun activities for kids, along with health and wellness resources for families.
The first 100 kids at will receive a free T-shirt. The first 300 kids will receive a free haircut coupon from Gene Juarez Academy and 1000 Cliff bars will be given away. There will be a drawing for a free one-year family membership and other prizes.
The YMCA is offering appearances by lovable kids’ characters, from Clifford to the Green River Community College Gator. Fostering Together, an organization that assists foster families, will be on hand.
Kids also will have a chance to hear about pollution and the environment from the Washington State Department of Ecology, see more than 20 displays about the human body in the “Group Health Blood and Guts Exhibit” and climb the popular Alpine Tower and Climbing Wall.
There will be a variety of entertainment every 15 minutes, including everything from Zumba and karate demos to a bike safety show.
