A water pipe in the attic space of the Auburn Court Apartments burst after freezing at 2:33 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, releasing enough water to displace six residents.
Valley Regional Fire Authority Firefighters were dispatched to building one of the Auburn Court Apartments, 102 10th St. NE, to stop the flow of water from the building’s sprinkler system after one of the pipes froze, then burst.
Firefighters shut off the system and attempted to water vacuum six units on all three floors of the apartment building.
Damage to the apartments was extensive and residents will not be able to return to their units in the near future.
The Senior Housing Assistance Group will find temporary housing for the displaced residents.
