FLY FISHING PUGET SOUND BEACHES
Cutthroat, resident salmon and migrating salmon can be taken on flies from Puget Sound beaches. The class is two sessions: Tuesday, Aug. 10, in the classroom at the Kent Senior Activity Center from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 14, on the beach. The cost is $69. AUBURN PARKS/SKYHAWKS BEGINNING CAMP
This camp is for boys and girls ages 4-8, and is scheduled for Aug. 9-13 at Les Gove Park in Auburn. Campers will use plastic clubs with oversized heads, and miniature tennis balls to help them develop the skill of hitting the ball and learn other basics. LEARN TO SKATE CLASSES
An eight-week series with group and private lessons for boys, girls and adults is being offered at KENT VALLEY ICE CENTRE. Instruction is based on criteria set forth by the Ice Skating Institute. These camps are for boys and girls ages 5-13. Younger players will focus on the basics, while more advanced players will work to fine-tune their skills and incorporate them into game situations. AUBURN PARKS DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM
This is a fall developmental program for boys and girls in grades K-8 and for coaches. All games will be played in the Auburn area, primarily on Saturdays, with the possibility of one or two weeknight games. The season runs Sept. 24-Nov. 13 with a clinic and the start of practice on Sept. 11 at Game Farm Park. Registration fees, due by Aug. 6, are $35 Auburn residents/$42 non-residents for grades K-1; $45 Auburn residents/$54 non-residents for grades 2-3 and 4-5; and $50 Auburn residents/$60 non-residents for grades 6-8. AUBURN POOL
The pool, located adjacent to Auburn High School at 516 4th St. N.E. offers several programs. PUBLIC SWIMS are available Monday through Friday from 1-3 p.m.; and Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7-8 p.m. ($3 for adults, $2.50 for children and seniors, or $9 for a family). LAP SWIMS are offered Monday through Friday from 6-8 a.m. and noon-1 p.m.; and Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8-9 p.m. ($4 adults, $3.50 children and seniors). TWO-WEEK LESSON SESSIONS are offered on Monday through Friday from Aug. 9-20, and Aug. 23-Sept. 3. Costs are $6 per lesson for ages 3-6; $5 per lesson for ages 6-14. TRIATHLON
TRIATHLON TRAINING
These swim and run workouts are for athletes age 18 and older. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards without stopping. Wet suits are mandatory to swim in deep water or along the buoy line. Running workouts will take place around Lake Meridian and on the Soos Creek Trail. Sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays, from now through Aug. 25, from 6:15-8 p.m. at Lake Meridian Park.
