Chase Lane helped Auburn Riverside (8-2-4 with 28 points) take control of second place in the North on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Tahoma.
Lane deposited an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute to lift the Ravens past the Bears. Gina Cardenas earned the shutout. The loss dropped Tahoma (7-3-4, 25 points) into third place in league play, one point ahead of Thomas Jefferson (7-5-3, 24 points).
ALSO: Kristen Dick notched a hat trick, scoring three times on Saturday to lead Auburn (3-10-2, 11 points) past Kent-Meridian (0-14-0, 0 points), 8-0. Jennsyn Chaney was credited for the shutout. … With two games remaining on the regular-season schedule heading into play last night, Kentwood, Auburn Riverside and Tahoma already had secured playoff berths. Jefferson (7-5-3, 24 points) remains on the cusp of the final berth, six points ahead of Federal Way (5-6-3, 18 points). … In the SPSL 3A the Auburn Mountainview (5-2-0 league, 11-3-1 overall) girls strengthened their hold on third place in league with a 3-0 drubbing of White River (1-3-0 league, 3-5-0 overall) this past week. Sydney Coleman, Hannah Morse and Jamie Byarlay all scored goals. Morse and Coleman also had assists as did Hillary Frett. Deanna Colburn earned her fifth straight shutout. The Lions closed our their regular season against second place Bonney Lake (5-0-2 league, 12-0-2 overall) last night, Tuesday, with scores unavailable at press time. The SPSL 3A/Seamount league sub-districts begin Nov. 5.
