The connect!kids Walk – a community fundraising event supporting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the fight against childhood cancer – unfolds Saturday at The Outlet Collection, formerly the SuperMall, 1101 Supermall Way, Auburn.
Auburn-area families and The Outlet Collection, formerly the SuperMall, have teamed up with St. Jude in an effort to raise money to beat cancer. St. Jude is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The family-friendly walk gives area residents the opportunity to help support the lifesaving mission of one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. in the new Connecting Concourse Atrium and continues inside throughout the center, ending at 1 p.m.
The walk and activities are free. The Outlet Collection is asking for a $5 donation for connect!kids walk T-shirts. The Outlet Collection will match donations up to $500.
The event includes free family activities – face painting, arts and crafts, a mini safety fair sponsored by the Auburn Police Department, and a photo booth.
“We are excited to help raise awareness and funds to support the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is to find cures and save children,” said Chantelle Herburger, The Outlet Collection | Seattle marketing director. “The connect!kids Walk will truly make a difference in helping the children of St. Jude fight cancer and other deadly diseases.”
St. Jude has treated children throughout the country and around the world since 1962. With a daily operating cost of $1.7 million, St. Jude depends mostly on public contributions and fundraising events.
The Parent Map and Auburn Police are sponsoring the walk.
