The Auburn Riverside girls were unable to overcome the Federal Way Eagles girls basketball team this past Tuesday, falling 66-63 in a game deciding the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds out of the South Puget Sound League 4A North Division into the postseason.
The Ravens squandered a 15 point, first-half lead allowing the Eagles to put together a 17-1 run in the third quarter. Auburn Riverside was only able to score four points in the third quarter.
Riverside staged a fourth-quarter comeback closing to within one point, before Federal Way’s sophomore guard Brittany Barrington hit a pair of free throws with less than 4 seconds left to ice the game for the Eagles.
The Eagles got 19 points and nine rebounds from sophomore post TyShanda Burgess. Barrington had a game high 20 points.
The Ravens were led by Mercedes Wetmore’s 15 points. Kat Cooper had 13 and Brooklynn Hinkens, Nichole Jackson and Amanda Thomson had 10 points each.
The Ravens will play Puyallup at 10 a.m. Saturday at Auburn High School, with the Eagles facing Rogers of Puyallup at noon at Auburn High school.
